Thoughts on Ciara Pearl

Ciara Pearl has started her 2024 season off with a bang and looks to back up on her latest success in the 6.30pm at Kempton on Monday 15th April. Jim Crowley is back on board in the 1 mile fillies’ handicap. As a racehorse trainer sometimes you have to strike while the iron is hot.

Ciara Pearl won nicely over the sharp ten furlongs at Lingfield. The more galloping track at Kempton is likely to play to her strengths, however the drop back to a mile isn’t totally in her favour. Running back quick is always a bit of a risk, however the way the racing to program works for this filly in the coming weeks, there is little to lose by having a shot here.

There is a line of form that suggests there’s little between Wadacre Grace and Ciara Pearl so she has to be considered a danger at this trip, however Ciara Pearl has improved over the winter so hopefully can come out on top against that rival. The dangers look to be the unexposed three year olds stepping into handicap company for the first time. The most obvious threat looks to Alika Breeze, stepping up a furlong after a the winter off for a yard whose runners appear to be in top form at present.

Ciara Pearl runs in the colours of owner Andrew Stonehill and will be led up today by Arla-Jade Cheshire who rides and cares for her daily at home.
