Thoughts on Crucible at Wolverhampton this afternoon
Crucible runs in the 4.00 at Wolverhampton tomorrow. Joe Fanning takes the ride in the six furlong maiden. Crucible is a big horse who has needed time to mature, he was very babyish on his sole start last year and was given time to grow and strengthen. He still looks quite a raw horse and gelding has helped him mentally. Although he has seen a racecourse once before we very much are treating tomorrow as a fresh experience for him and would expect him to learn a lot. He has shown potential in his work at home and the hope is that tomorrow will he bring it all together and he will realise what he is.
The race features a lot horses who have bit to prove. Many have just had one start and one shouldn’t judge a horse on its first run. Red Tycoon showed potential with his previous trainer before losing his way a bit, however has only had four starts and a change of scenery and a different approach make him a prime candidate amongst the more experienced horses.
Crucible on his debut last year.
