Thoughts on Deceiver
Deceiver lines up in the 6.00pm at Kempton this evening, Rossa Ryan rides.
This big son of Cracksman has been gelded over the winter. He will step forward on this evening in terms of fitness and he hasn’t completely come in his coat yet. This seemed a nice race to start his season and he will build on this evening. He’s got ability and we’d be hoping for a decent run with more to come as the season develops. Deceiver is half brother to Outgate, who won four races for the team and over £100,000 in prize money, so he has big shoes to fill. His long stride should be suited to the track and potentially further in due course.
Naaser sets a very obvious standard. He won his second start easily enough against inferior rivals. It’s hard to gauge how good he really is on the basis of that run. There are a lot of lightly raced and un-raced horses in here, but you’d be guessing as to which ones would be the most likely to trouble Naaser.
Deceiver runs in the colours of owners Oakmere Homes and will be led up by James Pulley who cares for him at home.
