Thoughts on Diamante at Lingfield

Diamante has her second run tomorrow afternoon in the 1.10 at Lingfield (Saturday 18th of February). George Downing will be in the saddle for the mile fillies maiden. Diamante races for the Capture the Moment partnership who had great success with a very similar filly in Affileo. Affileo won on debut as a three year old before being sold to Team Valor one of the worlds most successful syndicates who left the filly in our care to see if she could earn black type in Europe before she was transferred over to the United States. Diamante had one run as a two year old, to give her some experience at Newmarket. She was very green early in the race and still too weak to really do herself justice, but after getting out the dip did stay on past a couple of her rivals albeit she was well beaten. She grew quite a bit during her break and has continued to strengthen in recent weeks and cuts an altogether much stronger shape at this stage. She will be seen to best effect over a bit further in the summer and will come on for tomorrows run, but should show up quite a bit better than on her debut.

With five of the eight runners having their third start and most of them looking as if their futures lie in handicaps on what they have shown to date Flight of Fantasy sets a clear standard on her two runner up performances to date for the rest of the runners to aim at.
