Thoughts on Dixie’s Double
Dixie’s Double returns to Lingfield this afternoon for the 4.25 (Friday 17th of March). Oisin Murphy will ride the filly for the first time on her first attempt at seven furlongs in the three year old handicap. Dixie’s Double ran a much better race last time out and was staying on nicely over five furlongs. In the immediate aftermath of the race the plan was to head for a six furlong race but there really is nothing obviously suitable for quite some time so we took the decision to try the sharp seven furlongs around here. Certainly there are elements of her pedigree that suggest that seven furlongs is within in her compass and her sire Multiplex is very versatile in terms of the progeny he produces. Dixie’s Double will also be aiming for an incredible seventh best turned out award in her career, so best of luck to Jarmila who does a brilliant job turning her out.
If Mia Cara was better drawn than stall ten she would look to have a very good chance of adding to her last time out course and distance win. There is little to pick between Alitiko Tommy, Willy Rumpus, Auric Goldfinger and Baby Gal on the best of their form so it should be a tight contest amongst them all.
