Thoughts on Don’t Tell Claire

Don’t Tell Claire runs today (Monday 10th April) at Kempton in the Listed Snowdrop Fillies Stakes over a mile, Jack Mitchell will be on board.

Don’t Tell Claire has an admirable record, having won five races, including at twice at Class 2 level. Now 6, this will be her last season of racing. We are very keen to try and “earn” her some black type. This will enhance the next stage of her career as a broodmare. She is an honest tough genuine filly and beaten many subsequent black type performers during her career. The mare has always only done what she has to when hitting the front, so we have reached for the cheek pieces to focus her and aim to find a little more improvement. She has worked well in them at home.

This looks a pretty strong renewal and if Laurel matches her run in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes she will prove very hard to beat. The battle really is for the minor honours and there is little between four on ratings. Its a little tricky to compare the form of the Irish (Inishnee) and German (Abhayaa) raiders. Sound Angela has twice been fourth at stakes level and looks consistent. While Life of Dreams drops back to mile for the first time, which isn’t an immediately obvious move. Don’t Tell Claire has a little bit to find on the ratings with these four but if she gets a bit of luck she might sneak a place.

Don’t Tell Claire runs in the colours of owner Andrew Stonehill and will be led up by Natalie Jankiewicz.
