Thoughts on Evening Story
Evening Story makes her debut in the 2.54 at Lingfield this afternoon. William Carson replaces Cieren Fallon in the saddle due to an archaic BHA rule regarding the withdrawal of appeals. The race is a seven furlong novice race.
The homebred filly is by New Bay out of Penny Rose. We’ve had success with New Bay in the form of Bowland Park who won at two and twice at three. Penny Rose was a useful two year old filly herself. She has bred a nice filly in the form of listed placed Sweet Promise. Evening Story has recently started to get the hang of things in her homework and a race will bring her forward further.
Serious Look sets the standard here having won last time out. Saxon King hails from a yard in great form and a small step forward on a promising second run gives him every chance. Taste of Honey made a bright start before disappointing next time. A short time away from action could see her step forward, albeit she has a tricky draw to overcome.
Evening Story runs in the colours of owner breeders Gary & Lesley Middlebrook. She will be led up by yard manager Lauren Webb.
