Thoughts on Friday’s Runners
We send out two runners from Sarsen Farm on Friday 3rd May. Astro King heads back to Newmarket’s Rowley Mile in the 4.10pm Jockey Club Stakes, a Group 2 race over 1 mile 4 furlongs. Regular partner Richard Kingscote is in the saddle. Salamanca Lad is our other runner today. He heads to Goodwood in the 4.25pm 1 mile 2 furlong handicap with David Egan taking the ride.
ASTRO KING
Astro King was second in the Group 3 Earl of Sefton at the Craven Meeting and clearly has a liking for the Rowley Mile having won the Cambridgeshire last September. He steps up to 12 furlongs for the first time. He is not a guaranteed stayer but it is something that is worth trying. Given his excellent course record this looked a good opportunity to try, on ratings he has every chance if he does go the extra distance.

There isn’t much between these on the rating’s. The filly Time Lock looks the solid option, having won impressively over course and distance in the Autumn
Astro King runs for syndicate owners Capture The Moment, Carter & Lofthouse. He will be led up today by Jan Kasecky who cares for him at home. He is ridden by yard manager Mark Lawson.
SALAMANCA LAD
Salamanca Lad has run solid races on his two starts for the yard, and the switch to turf should be a plus based on his form for previous connections. The soft going looks to be a plus too.

Salamanca Lad probably needs one or two to underperform to have a realistic chance, but the conditions are likely to level things up. Portsmouth has the pick of the form and sets the standard. The unexposed filly Ashariba has lofty targets and should be fine with the conditions. It is interesting that Jamie Spencer goes to Goodwood to ride her.
Salamanca Lad runs in the colours of our in house partnership Fellowship Racing and Diskovery. He will be led up by Epona Miller cares for and rides the gelding at home.
If you are interested in joining one of our in house partnerships, take a look at the horses for sale page. There are a couple of options at the moment. Including a two year to race for the Diskovery Partnership called Echo of Glory. Echo of Glory is a strong two year old colt with a speedy pedigree. There are 5% or 10% shares available.
