Thoughts on Fronsac at Kempton

Fronsac runs in the 5.10 at Kempton today. The gelding steps back in trip to seven furlongs under Josephine Gordon. The gelding ran promisingly over a mile here a couple of starts ago and looked as if seven furlongs would suit that day. He wears cheek pieces to ensure that he is sharp over the shortest distance he has ever tackled. A horse who works well at home he has let the preliminaries upset him in the past but has improved all year and Josephine really seemed to bond with him last time out at Lingfield.

A tight race with the in form and well drawn Magicinthemaking probably the standard setter. Gavi De Gavi found improvement to win last time over course and distance in a 0-70 and a repeat of that performance would see him going close again. That looked a strongly run race and things may have suited him more than Turn To Rock who finished in behind on that occasion and has a far superior today to his conquerer and is still lightly raced. Were the drop back in trip to bring out improvement in Imperial Act he is another that will be involved at the business end of the race.

Fronsac is owned and was bred by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He will be led up by Yard Manager Lauren Webb who rides him out at home.

It’s yearling sales season and last week we added some exciting young horses to the string and we will be in Newmarket over the next fortnight looking for more high quality prospects for 2020 and beyond. Get in touch for more details.
