Thoughts on Fronsac at Wolverhampton

Fronsac runs in the 5.55 at Wolverhampton this evening (Monday 20th of January). Josephine Gordon is in the saddle for the extended nine furlong handicap. This race was not the original plan, unfortunately the abandonment of Chelmsford last week meant that Fronsac missed a great opportunity. The track here probably doesn’t suit him quite as well but with few other suitable options at the minute and the horse ready to run this is worth a go. The draw has not been overly helpful (stall 10).

Toro Dorado comes into the race after a win last time out over a mile, this followed a string of consistent efforts including over ten furlongs. He is clearly not miles ahead of his handicap mark and several of these are capable of matching that sort of form if things fall right. Kilbaha Lady returning from a short break and Hector’s Here (also returning from an absence) are both capable at this level. Embrace the Moment stepping up in trip is lightly raced and may find the improvement necessary off the back of a return to action for a new trainer last time out. Red Gunner has been running well at Class 6 including a couple of wins but needs to prove he can cut it at this higher level.

Fronsac is by Frankel, out of Riberac and he was bred and is owned by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. The gelding will be lead up by yard manager, Lauren Webb, who rides him every day at home.
