Thoughts on Great Charm at Kempton on Wednesday evening
Great Charm heads to Kempton tomorrow evening (12th September) to run in a seven furlong handicap at 5.45. George Baker takes to the saddle, he seemed to get on well with the horse earlier in the season at Chepstow and hopefully can once again get the best out of the horse. Great Charm has done some practice jumping out of the stalls during the last week as he missed the break badly at Wolverhampton on his last start. The draw has been unkind as we are posted wide in stall twelve. The horse has some previous success from wide draws however – once managing to win from stall fourteen at Chester which is almost unheard of. lLet’s hope lightening strikes twice!
There is no standout amongst the opposition and there are several horses that come to the race in with a similar level of form. The sole three year old in the race Ghost Train steps back up to seven furlongs and often goes close, although he is placed more often than he wins. Zing Wing running for new connections is one to note as he has won over course and distance in similar company. Mishrif is certainly one to note as he has good course and distance form to his name in better races than this. Sunshine Always has been consistent of late although the balance of his form suggests he may be better suited to a mile.
