Thoughts on Helm Rock

Happy New Year. Helm Rock looks to set the team off to a winning start in 2024. The gelding runs in the 3.45 at Newcastle and where he will be ridden by Jack Mitchell.

Helm Rock ran a solid race when third a couple of weeks ago at Chelmsford. That race didn’t really pan out for him. He has an excellent all weather record including an impressive win over course and distance in a racing league race.

This is a competitive race with Tempus the class horse in the field. Tempus comes here off the back of a second in a Listed race he looks the horse to beat. Symbol of Light has a progressive profile on the all weather and was unlucky in running last time out. Dear My Friend won a Listed race over course and distance early last year. A repeat of that sort of level of form would see him involved, however he lost his way on the turf and returns after a wind operation. He does have a bit to prove at present.

Helm Rock races for one of our Capture the Moment partnerships. He has won over a £120,000 in prize money and recorded 7 wins from his 32 starts. There are currently shares available in a very promising looking colt. This exceptionally athletic colt bought from the same farm as Helm Rock was raised on.

Helm Rock will be led up today by James Pulley who cares for him at home and overseen by travelling manager Shaun Johnson.
