Thoughts on Helm Rock
Helm Rock runs this evening at Wolverhampton in the 8.50pm. Nicola Currie rides in the extended mile handicap.
The pair are bidding to follow up their recent success at Carlisle, when they pulled clear by five lengths over nine furlongs. This is his last chance to run in a class five before he steps up to better company. The surface riding standard to slow is probably a plus. He has to carry plenty of weight – but that’s because the handicapper thinks he’s the best horse.
Curtiz looks a danger dropped in class and back at his optimum distance for the first time since running up a hat trick. Sandy Paradise has improved for the switch back down to a mile to record a pair of wins, but found this level too strong for him earlier in the season. Fellow three year old Night Glass has run his best races on the all weather and looked as if the return to a mile would help last time.
Helm Rock runs in the colours of owners Capture The Moment VII partnership and will be led up by James Pulley who cares for him daily at home. Capture the Moment is a partnership run by Daniel & Claire. They purchase yearlings and syndicate them amongst three or four people. The colours have been in the winners enclosure already this week with two year old Forest Demon’s success on Wednesday.
