Thoughts on Jack Blane at Wetherby
Jack Blane heads to Wetherby for 4.45 today (Monday 19th of June). Rob Hornby will be on board for the one mile handicap. Jack Blane is returning from a short break with a little niggle. He spent the first couple of weeks in the swimming pool during his recovery so he has always been doing some form of training. He steps up to a mile for the first time which looked as if it was within his range on his most recent effort at Kempton. The draw could have been a bit kinder (12 of 16 – now effectively 10 of 14 with the non-runners).
The race looks wide open with a big field, Edgar Allan Poe should be ok with the step up in trip and was running in some decent races in Ireland and with his recent debut for his new yard out the way in a stronger race could well come forward. Hollywood and Fairy Lock (although she’s poorly drawn) bring reasonably solid form to the table and set the level on that basis. He’s a Toff might have had excuses on his last couple of starts but seems to have ideal conditions here and with a good draw and blinkers on for the first time might see him run similarly to his seasonal debut.
