Thoughts on Karnage today

Karnage is back in action today at Chelmsford, 11th March 2016 in the 6.15. Richard Kingscote takes over in the saddle from Luke Morris who is having to miss the opportunity to make a living appealing a ridiculous ban from the Lingfield stewards for easing a horse that he wasn’t happy with in a race there on Saturday. So even if he wins his appeal he has lost out on a days work. Richard is a more than able deputy and we think he will be well suited to this horse who won his last start by a comfortable four and half lengths. This race sees him drop back in trip to ten furlongs, which shouldn’t be a problem for him as he has shown some solid form over this sort of distance this winter. The blinkers definitely helped him out last time out and should continue to do so today. You will notice that he runs for a new ownership group today although it still contains some of the previous owners. He went to the February sales in Newmarket and we felt there was more to come from him and decided to buy him back and formed this syndicate. The prize money this evening is good for the grade and the course have been rewarded with a competitive race, it would behove a few other courses to take note. Our only concern for Karnage would be he picked up a little bug from the sales and so missed a bit of work on his return and may just be a touch shy of peak fitness.

The race looks competitive with the likely favourite Tangramm in rare form, having won six of his last seven starts. However he is far from the only in form horse looking at the last three runs of the eight runners they boast seven wins and fifteen top three efforts so they are an in form bunch and there is every reason to expect good runs from the likes of Mr Red Clubs, My Mo and the veteran Ice Buster who was a better class of this in his heyday and is rounding into some good form on his return from a long absence.
