Thoughts on Lalinde’s chance at Newbury tomorrow night.
Lalinde returns to the racecourse in the 8.35 at Newbury tomorrow evening (4th July). Darren Egan rides in the mile and a half maiden. Although her first start was very much for experience as she was still on the weak side as she has a big frame to fill Lalinde was very disappointing. She was subsequently found to have a lung problem and was given some time turned out to recover in the spring. The break has done her good and whilst she still has to fill her frame she is starting to come together and a better performance is expected. The step up in trip is expected to suit, ideally we would have liked to have run over ten furlongs first but there wasn’t really a suitable option as she is a big long striding filly and at this stage of her career a flat galloping track is ideal for her.
The field has a diverse range of abilities on show; Fledged sets a good standard and is the one to beat. Hold on Tight looked promising on her first start at two whilst she didn’t really build on that effort on her only start this year it would be no surprise were she to feature.
