Thoughts on Lil Guff

Lil Guff starts our week off in the 7.10pm at Windsor on Monday 20th May. William Buick takes the ride in the 5 furlong handicap, this partnership have been first past the post before so will be looking to achieve the same this evening.

Lil Guff looks to have the really quick ground that she relishes for the first time this season. She’s a really tough mare who takes her racing well, having won twice in each of her three seasons racing. She looked as game as ever last time out when just not quite able to quicken up on good to soft going. She’s very effective over a stiff five furlongs but ran a great race in a deeper Racing League race over course and distance last summer. The only slight negative is that she is drawn a little wider than ideal in relation to a couple of her main rivals.

A tight handicap with Dubai Station bringing consistent recent form at this level. Rocking Ends starts out for a new yard and has shown the ability in the past if not the consistency. He has the plumb draw too. Veteran Treacherous is another who can go well in this grade. Watchya has run at a higher level in recent times and should appreciate the ease in grade.

Lil Guff runs in the colours of owner Wayne Clifford and was bred by Sarah Clifford at their Byerley Stud. She will be led up by Epona Miller who rides and cares for her daily at home.
