Thoughts on Lover’s Gait
Lover’s Gait makes her debut for the yard in the 1.50 at Thirsk. Adam McNamara is aboard for the one mile handicap. The filly didn’t show much form for her previous trainer but did hint at some ability on her second run. We are still learning about her and ideally would have started out over ten furlongs, however it has been hard to get her into a race and she is in need of a run so we have opted to go here.
The race looks open enough. Sir Havelock and Led Astray met at Lingfield recently finishing 5th and 7th in a tightly bunched field. Led Astray has had fewer goes and probably looks the one to beat on that basis. Garnock Valley showed ability over sprint trips at two and if seeing out the extra distance has to be considered a danger. Of the less exposed horses Aces N Kings caught the eye when second at Southwell but may possible want a bit further.
Lovers Gait is owned by Simon Hope and Stephen Barrow. He will be led up today by James Pulley and overseen by Shaun Johnson. Billie Portwin has done an excellent job riding the filly out at home everyday.
