Thoughts on Mandria at Ffos Las
Mandria will make her race course debut tomorrow in the 2.00 at Ffos Las (Tuesday 5th August). Thomas Brown takes the ride in the six furlong fillies maiden. Mandria is a big raw filly, we have always liked her and she has a good action. She still has some filling out to do and should be a lovely strong three year old. We’ve given her some nice entries later in the year as she has the potential to make up into a good horse if she continues to show the same progression that she has done at home. Tomorrow is very much a learning curve for the filly and she will learn plenty from the experience. The six furlong trip will be a minimum as although the dam won over the trip and was listed placed at two over six furlongs there is a bit of her sire Duke of Marmalade about this filly. He was a ten to twelve furlong horse and has probably put a bit more stamina into Mandria.
The race looks there for the taking for the experienced Khawaater who has been very close in her last three starts and of those that have run there appears to be little that has shown anything like that sort of form. Rictrude is an interesting newcomer from a yard that can get a horse ready to win first time out and may therefore pose the biggest threat to Khawaater.
