Thoughts on Marmande tomorrow
Marmande runs in the 8.10 at Chelmsford City tomorrow (Thursday 19th February). Tony Hamilton rides the filly in the one mile handicap. Marmande progressed with each start in maidens last winter and was then given a break. We were pleased with her progress and were looking forward to a summer campaign, she unfortunately picked up an injury on her first start back in a handicap company and missed a bit of time. We have built her back up and look to get her career back on track tomorrow. She can be enthusiastic in her work and hopefully she relaxes on her first start back and enjoys the experience, she’s done a reasonable amount of work but there should be a bit of improvement for the run.
The race is wide open with several of the horses posting good form at this kind of level recently last time out winners Youm Jamil and With Hindsight could certainly both follow up. Lightly raced horses are always interesting at this level as the slower learners who have the ability start to put everything together and therefore Pouncing Tiger is also a potential danger. A lot will depend on how the race pans out.
