Thoughts on Medrano this evening

Medrano is our sole runner today in the 8:45 at Kempton (Saturday 27th of October). Robert Winston is booked to ride the gelding in the mile and half handicap. The gelding has run well on all three all weather starts for the yard including in this grade over this trip. He needs to break better than he has been to give him every chance. He pulled a shoe and twisted his fetlock at Goodwood last time out hence he has had a bit of break since and is perhaps best forgiven that run in the circumstances.

In a race where several have decent recent form, Pipes of Peace who put up very big effort when just failing to get up on his first start for nearly a year last time out, in what was also his first start for new connections and a step up in trip looks a good starting point. Last time out winners Archimento and Past Master setting a solid standard to aim at. Occupy takes a slight ease in grade and may well be more competitive as a result.
