Thoughts on Multi Fours at Southwell Tomorrow

Multi Fours runs in the 4.35 at Southwell tomorrow (February 19th). Luke Morris takes the ride in the mile handicap for three year olds. Multi Fours finally hinted she is understanding what racing is about last time out. She raced on the pace for much of the race and had her rivals off the bridle rounding the home bend before running out of steam and not staying the ten furlong trip that evening. Luke rode her that night and felt she was capable of winning a small race over a shorter trip. The big question here is whether she will handle the surface at Southwell. In her favour her sire’s progeny have a very good record at the track winning at an 18.5% strike rate. We will only really know by trying.

The reason for taking the chance on the surface is that the race doesn’t look to be a particularly strong contest. Armada Bay has been placed several times in recent starts and looks the likely favourite. Suspension makes her handicap debut for a trainer whose horses often run well on this surface and may show an improvement for it, Luv U Whatever has a similar profile.
