Thoughts on Mutineer this afternoon
Mutineer runs in the 2.40 at Haydock Park this afternoon (Friday May 27th). Dougie Costello takes the ride on the two year old colt in the six furlong maiden. This is our first two year old runner of the year so its always a little tricky to gauge where the group is at. He is a big boisterous colt and its very much a first day at school for him. He has shown potential in his homework and is a good looking son of first season sire Sepoy who was a top class horse in Australia and is a half brother to several useful performers.
The race like a hot contest, the race split into two divisions and this on paper looks much the strongest. Dream of Dreams looked very promising on debut in a strong Newmarket novice event at the Craven meeting that has thrown up several subsequent winners, he is sure to come on for that run and with a host of big race entries. Spiritous and Our Boy were second and third in what is usually a strong race at Newbury. With newcomers from a couple of yards that normally have them pretty wound up first time outing Majoris, Wigan Warrior and Exciting Times the race certainly has a bit of depth to it.
