Thoughts on Not After Midnight at Goodwood

Not After Midnight returns to action this afternoon in the 2.05 at Goodwood after a break in the middle of summer – the idea being that she would avoid the fastest of the midsummer ground and be able to enjoy an Autumn campaign, George Downing takes the ride in the seven furlong novice fillies race. The step up a furlong should be fine for her, she is out a filly who won over a mile at two and her sire similarly won over a mile at two.

Not After Midnight is the only filly with placed form in the race but there lurk a couple of likely improvers with one run under their belts, Juliet Foxtrot was beaten just 3 lengths on debut at Newmarket and holds an entry in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes and has to be respected. Rasima also ran well enough on debut in a race that looked a tough contest to think she will be a danger here.
