Thoughts on Passing Star
Passing Star runs in the 2.20 at Wolverhampton this afternoon. Silvestre De Sousa is in the saddle for the six furlong handicap. Passing Star made a satisfactory return to action following a wind operation and probably just needed the run that day, travelling well before tiring. Passing Star has only run over six furlongs twice, once when winning for us at Chelmsford, its as sharp as he would like it but dropped into this grade for the first time he should have the pace to be effective. He wears blinkers for the first time since he joined us, although he did try them once for a previous trainer. He did a nice piece of work in them the other day and are little variation from his usual cheek pieces.
The race is competitive for the class with Irish raider and course winner Ahundrednotout turning up in good recent form probably setting the standard, Counterfeit is a last time out winner when dropped back to this trip and could find more again. Similar applies to Ingleby Molly although the race she won was a very weak affair so she will have to improve again on that performance, especially given her wide draw.
