Thoughts on Rosaceous at Ascot and Shock at Salisbury tomorrow

Two runners tomorrow (27th July). Rosaceous heads to Ascot for the 5.35. Mickael Barzalona takes the ride in the mile and a half handicap for three year olds. The filly did well to win her maiden at Newbury on her third start overcoming a wide draw and being quite green still early. She has done well since and hopefully can continue her upward progression. The step up in trip shouldn’t be a problem and the ground should be fine.

Rosaceous will need to continue her progress as she takes on more seasoned rivals in a small four runner field. In what could be a tactical affair Big Thunder looks the horse to beat as he has progressed to win three of his last four starts. Glenard finally started to look like he may live up to a big reputation on his most recent starts since being gelded.

Shock runs at Salisbury in the 7.15. Steve Drowne takes the ride in the six furlong maiden for two year olds. Shock has progressed and progressed since arrival and continues to surprise. He did have the potential to be a bit of a handful early on but the team have done a great job of making sure he is a good citizen. The trip may be on the sharp side tomorrow but its our local track and a good place to start a two year olds racing career. The clerk of the course is in a tricky spot with firm ground and a lot of rain forecast. Were no rain to arrive he may not run.

There are a couple of interesting newcomers in After the Goldrush and Glebe Spirit. Of this that have Harwoods Volante is the horse that stands out.
