Thoughts on Rosaceous today

Rosaceous will make her third start of the season tomorrow evening (7th June) in the 8.15 at Newcastle. Tom Eaves takes the mount in the 10 furlong handicap. Rosaceous has been disappointing this season and although she did not seem to stay the mile and a half trip at Goodwood last time out she was beaten too far for that to be an excuse. Physically she is good shape and the drop back to a mile and a quarter should suit. The ground at Newcastle should suit. We’ve removed the head gear as it doesn’t appear to have helped her cause.

The race looks open with not many of the field in good form of late. Red Inca who returns from a long absence could be an easy winner if he retains the form he showed on his last appearance on the flat when when finish fourth in much better race. Dark Ocean is a rarity in that he has been running well of late and if he handles the step up in trip he sets a solid standard. His pedigree suggests he should be suited by further that the mile he had been seen over for the majority of his career so far.
