Thoughts on Rothay Park
Rothay Park is having his first trip to Brighton today as he lines up in the 5.20pm on Tuesday 28th May. Alistair Rawlinson will be taking the ride on this gelding in the seven furlong handicap.
Rothay Park was given no chance on his turf debut last time out. He was carried wide in the bend at Windsor putting paid to any chance he had. He’s been handed a wide draw today, but has good gate speed. He really wants a quick surface so the rain that has fallen this morning has not been helpful. The ground is currently good so hopefully it stays dry. He’s a well balanced horse so should handle the track well.

Dan Dee Prince ran well when third over course and distance a couple of weeks ago and that form probably sets the standard here. Just Rita has been solid enough in all weather handicaps that a small improvement switched to turf would probably see her in the mix. Handicap debutants Arnaz and Marching Mac are others who can improve.
Rothay Park runs in the colours of owners Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He will be led up by Shannon Pasotti who rides and cares for him daily at home.
