Thoughts on Rothay Park

Rothay Park heads to Lingfield this evening as he lines up in the 8.45pm on Saturday 8th June. Harry Davies will be taking the ride on this gelding in the 7 furlong 135 yards handicap.

Rothay Park got carried out at Windsor on his turf debut and that ruined any chance he had. He has decent draw and the track should suit him. He loves a quick surface so has plenty in his favour.

The race looks open. Maple has the connections and pedigree that suggest he wouldn’t be running in this if they didn’t think he was capable of performing at a higher level. Mister Mojito won a weaker race well last time and would likely need to run at least as well here if not slightly better to follow up. Monks Mead has won a couple of times already and is pretty consistent – he probably sets the standard.

Rothay Park runs in the colours of owners Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He will be led up by Shannon Pasotti who rides and cares for him daily at home.
