Thoughts on Royal Ascot Runners Thursday
Percy’s Lad runs in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at 6:10. Richard Kingscote will be in the saddle for the seven furlong charge.
Percy’s Lad ran well in the Hunt Cup for a long way last season, but due to his strong travelling nature in these very big fields he might be better suited to seven furlongs. Whilst still not the easiest of rides he has definitely looked more tractable this season and been able to race just behind the pace. Hence we have decided to drop back in trip. He broke the course record over seven half furlongs at Chester last season, so clearly has pace.
Percy’s Lad
Montassib looks very solid here and brings strong fast ground form to the table. Croupier is interesting dropped back in trip after winning over a mile at York. Kingdom Come is an interesting progressive horse.
Percy will run in the colours of owner Alan Kerr and will be led up by Sammy Barnett who cares for him daily at home. He is ridden in his routine exercise by Alex Swinswood.
