Thoughts on Saturday’s runners
Two runners today to end what has been a busy week for the team. Lowick makes her racecourse debut at Goodwood in the 3.45pm under Richard Kingscote. Percy’s Lad lines up at Chester at 4.05pm with Ben Curtis taking the reins.
Lowick
Lowick is a big scopey filly by The Factor, who raced on dirt in the USA. We’d expect her to improve for her first race course experience, but there is decent prize money down to sixth place so this looked worth a go as she qualified for the conditions of the race.
Lowick
The field are very lightly raced and the only one with real form is Flying Circus who has been third on both her racecourse appearances. That form sets a reasonable standard, particularly if her first time cheek pieces bring about improvement. However, the level is not so high that it would be a surprise if there was a debutant amongst these capable of quite a bit better.
Lowick runs for owner breeders Gary & Lesley Middlebrook and will be led up by Shannon Pasotti.
Percy’s Lad
Percy’s Lad made a cracking seasonal reappearance over course and distance when third at the May Festival from a very wide draw. He holds the course record here and has nice draw in stall 3.
Percy’s Lad
This looks a good opening for Percy’s Lad as he’s faced most of this field in the past and got the best of them. Red Mirage is well drawn and probably the major danger. Paws for Thought is the sort to be able to really capitalise on the plum draw in stall 1. Dawn of Liberation is an interesting outsider who showed definite talent at three but wasn’t always consistent. Its possible to forgive his seasonal debut on account of the ground.
Percy’s Lad runs in the colours of owner Alan Kerr. He will be led up by Sammy Barnett who cares for him daily at home.
