Thoughts on Saturday’s runners
Four runners today across two tracks to end what has been a very busy week for the team. Lowick, Lil Guff & Bowland Park will all line up at Haydock Park with Aira Force representing the stable at Newmarket.
Aira Force
Aira Force leads the way, she runs in the 2.07pm Fillies Handicap under Dylan Hogan. The filly made an encouraging return to action in a stronger Sunday Series race and should appreciate the drop into this company. She should come forward for that run in terms of fitness.
Aira Force
This looks quite a tight sprint handicap on paper. Sophia’s Starlight has very good form over further and looked to show the pace around Chester last time out that this drop back to sprinting could be ideal for her.
Aira Force runs in the colours of owners Gary & Lesley Middlebrook. She will be led up by Tamsin Karn who rides and cares for her daily at home.
Lowick
Lowick is the first of the trio at Haydock to run, she kicks things off in the 6.00pm. Ben Curtis takes the ride.
Lowick made a lovely start to life at Goodwood first time out. We asked her to make the running next time at Kempton which with hindsight was a mistake as she was too raw to do a good job of it and ran green on the final bend, with the bit slipping through her mouth. The flip side is she didn’t have a hard race and we go again here.
Chronograph sets the standard for the rest to aim at, with Berkshire Sundance the most likely to challenge.
Lowick is an homebred of the Middlebrooks. She will be led up by today by Shannon Pasotti.
Lil Guff
Lil Guff is next up where she is looking to back up her last two wins and score the hat-trick. She lines up at 6.35pm, Luke Morris will be in the saddle. She’s thriving at present and whilst this represents a slight step up in class she should give another good account.
Lil Guff
Angle Land looks the biggest danger, a very quick filly she ran well in the Epsom Dash and this would not be as tough a race as that by any stretch of the imagination, even allowing for the fact that event was marred by malfunctioning stalls. Grace’s Angel is a largely progressive three year old who also presents a threat.
Lil Guff runs in the colours of Wayne Clifford having been bred by Sarah Clifford. She will be led up by Epona Miller as usual.
Bowland Park
Last but not least, Bowland Park takes his chance in the 8.40pm under Ben Curtis.
Bowland Park has been out for quite a while, he had a tough season last year in taking on some higher quality races and ultimately things didn’t really pan out for him. He’s had a nice break over the winter and done plenty of work as we’ve been to keen to avoid the very ground in recent weeks. He is a course and distance winner in this grade.
Bowland
The lightly race Sunglasses is intriguing against these much more exposed rivals. Succellus has been running in better races and a return to from now fitted with cheekpieces would be no surprise. Alwazar is another who could appreciate the drop in grade.
Its a busy day for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook who also own Bowland Park, a home bred. He will be led up by Shannon Pasotti today.
