Thoughts on Saturday’s Runners

Busy but an exciting day ahead of the team at Sarsen Farm on Saturday 11th May as we send out 4 runners at 3 different meetings. BRAVO ZULU starts the day off as he heads to Haydock in the 2.10pm 3 year old Handicap over 1 mile with Richard Kingscote in the saddle. Then we begin a very busy hour with DECEIVER up next, he runs at Nottingham in the 4.05pm 1 mile handicap with Callum Hutchinson taking the ride. For our third meeting today we’re off to Ascot with two runners, starting here with CIARA PEARL. This filly is chasing win number 4 in a row, Jim Crowley will be hoping to win on her again in the 4.20pm Fillies’ Handicap over 1 mile 2 furlongs. Last but by no means least, ABBEY HEIGHTS runs in the 4.55pm Handicap over 6 furlongs with Saffie Osborne in the saddle.

BRAVO ZULU

Bravo Zulu was disappointing last time. Having won his two previous starts in all weather novices he found the switch into a competitive strongly run turf handicap a bit of a shock to the system. He’s better than that and quicker ground should be a plus.

Bravo Zulu and Richard Kingscote winning at Kempton Park

A race full of unexposed horses it’s tricky to pick one ahead of the rest. Cerulean Bay and Sennockian both ran well in competitive races last time.

Bravo Zulu runs for the Capture The Moment syndicate and will be led up by Shannon Pasotti who cares for him daily at home.

DECEIVER

Deceiver is a horse we’ve always liked. He’s got plenty of size and should really come into his own this season. He was a bit slow out at Chelmsford and never really able to get into the race as a result. However that run should have set him nicely for this race and the galloping track should play to his strengths.

Decevier winning at Kempton Park

On the River looks the standard setter and comes here in good form. The lightly raced Twirling looks a potential improver.

Decevier runs in the colours of Oakmere Homes and was bred by Gary & Lesley Middlebrook. He will be led up by James Pulley who cares for him at home.

CIARA PEARL

Ciara Pearl comes here seeking her fourth win a row. Jim Crowley knows her having been aboard for two of those wins. The quicker turf should be fine for her and the stiff ten furlongs should suit her too. She’ll need to show more again to win at this level but she’s never really been fully tested yet and we’re excited to find out how competitive she can be in this class.

Ciara Pearl and connections at Bath after her winning hat-trick in April

Prenup looks the big danger on form, Avon Light has developed over the winter and warrants respect. Turn Up The Heat looks the biggest danger amongst a group of compelling three year old fillies.

Ciara Pearl runs in the colours of owner Andrew Stonehill and will be led up today by Arla-Jade Cheshire who rides and cares for her daily at home.

ABBEY HEIGHTS

Abbey Heights has been brought back patiently, we’ve always been keen to get him running in these kind of big field straight sprint handicaps as they should really suit him. He missed last year with a niggle and rather than rush him back for the all weather we waited for the turf this season. He’s entitled to be a bit rusty but its exciting to have him back at the races. He should be fit and is actually fractionally below the weight he has won off previously.

Abbey Heights winning at Wolverhampton

A big cavalry charge of a sprint where many could have a chance and luck in running will play its part. Buccabay is amongst the more obvious if the low draw is a plus today, of the higher drawn horses Brave Nation could be the answer.

Abbey Heights runs for owners Gary and Lesley Middlebrook who also bred this son of Dark Angel. He will be led up by Jan Kasecky who cares for him daily at home.
