Thoughts on Secret Acquisition
Secret Acquisition heads to Wolverhampton this afternoon for the 4.50. Adam McNamara is aboard the filly for the nine and half furlong handicap. They are drawn in stall 5. Secret Acquisition returns after an absence. She was ready to run last year and had an issue just when racing resumed, and so her absence is not as dramatic as it first looks. She wears a tongue tie as sometimes she gets her tongue over the bit at home. This will stop that, and should make life a little bit easier for the jockey. The filly will relish the extra distance she gets here and is likely to want further in due course.
Secret Acquisition meets some recent course and distance winners in Broken Rifle and Nine Elms on her handicap debut. This is a difficult rage to gauge as whilst quite a few have the requisite ability to win the race, they would not be the most consistent bunch of performers. Capriolette drops to a lower grade and if on form perhaps the most ability of these. Elusive Heights has serious back class and new connections are probably still learning about him, a recent wind op brought about a couple of better efforts so he is another that could be competitive.
Secret Acquisition races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. She was bred by Normandie Stud and purchased as a yearling at Tattersalls Book 2. This afternoon she will be led up by groom Ilse Belien, and overseen by travelling manager and regular rider, Shaun Johnson.
