Thoughts on Seneca Chief

Seneca Chief is back on the turf today (Wednesday 27th April) at Ascotin the 5.10. He will be running in the 5f handicap under Tom Marquand. The gelding is making his seasonal reappearance and has been working solidly at home. He still hasn’t come one hundred percent in his coat. Seneca Chief could have done with a kinder draw but the field is small enough (11 runners) that hopefully it doesn’t make too big a difference. He relishes a stiff five furlongs so the track should suit.

A typically open sprint handicap. Full Authority has shaped well in two starts over six furlongs for current connections in higher class races. He may well enjoy the drop in trip. Fellow market leader Yazaman doesn’t look as suited to the drop back to five but boasts some high class back form. Veteran Pettochside won this race last year and looked in great form when third at Epsom recently and with a good draw could well be a popular winner. Mulzim is another horse who warrants respect, although his wins have all been on the all weather he boasts some good turf form.

Seneca Chief runs for owner breeders Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He be will be led up by Natalie Jankiewicz who rides him regularly. Jan Kasecky cares for him at home.
