Thoughts on Seneca Chief

Seneca Chief bids for his hat trick today in the 5.20pm at Kempton Park. He carries a 5lb penalty for his win in the five furlongs handicap. Dylan Hogan, claims three, to keep the weight down a bit. Dylan is a talented apprentice having his first ride for the yard aboard the gelding. Seneca Chief is being stepped up in distance to six furlongs, he has looked much more settled in his races and we have always he would be effective over the distance. He is drawn wide for the third time in a row out in stall 9, which is not ideal. The track at Kempton is slightly slower then Wolverhampton and Chelmsford which is always a concern and it is his first time racing around a right hand bend.

Seneca Chief winning at Chelmsford last Tuesday

Seneca Chief looks the horse to beat on recent form, Millie’s Maid is effective in this class and over this trip and should ensure it is a decent contest. Deeds Not Words was a very decent horse in his hey day but that was some time ago, he could however be a danger if the first time blinkers spark a revival. Aghast showed the ability to win a race of this nature for previous connections and makes his debut for a trainer today.

Seneca Chief is owned and was bred by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He is by Invincible Spirit, out of Namid mare, Albertine Rose. The gelding will be led up by yard manager, Lauren Webb.
