Thoughts on Seneca Chief

Seneca Chief runs this evening in the 8.10 at Bath. Dylan Hogan is on board the gelding for five furlong handicap and they are drawn in stall 3. Seneca Chief hasn’t run up to expectations on his last couple of starts, and whilst he has had excuses we are looking for a return to his best. He would not be suited by any further ease in the going.

A small field of five with Vandad now a non-runner. Fernando Rah goes into handicaps and looks like he could be the one to beat following a good win in a novice at Wolverhampton on just his third start. He steps back down in trip again today, which maybe isn’t in his favour. Ginger Jam probably sets the standard here on the back of a recent course and distance win and is good form and goes well for Faye McManoman. Sarah’s Verse has won three times this season over course this season but that was over the extended five furlongs and she will need step up again in this stronger race over the shorter trip.

Seneca Chief was bred by and races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He is by Invincible Spirit, out of the Namid mare, Albertine Rose. He will be led up by Michael Coles.
