Thoughts on Seneca Chief
Seneca Chief heads to Windsor this evening for the 7.45. Richard Kingscote takes the ride in the 5 furlong handicap. We are hoping for a drying day, as wants good ground or better to be seen to best effect, and was a non-runner at Bath on Friday for this reason. He made a promising start to his season at Sandown but hasn’t matched in his 2 subsequent starts, albeit there are reasons for that.
This looks an open race and the Daley Express sets the standard, he has run well enough in stronger races to show that he is the one to beat here. If on song Sara’s Hope is likely to be involved and whilst Bellevarde isn’t quite matching the peak of his form at the moment a return to that level might make him competitive. Toptime is a three year old and so still open to further improvement as he develops physically but he hasn’t been able to get involved at this level on his last four starts over this trip so it is surprising to see him currently trading as the favourite.
Seneca Chief is a homebred of Gary & Lesley Middlebrook and already a four time winner. He will be led up this evening by Sammy Barnett and overseen by Alice Roberts, he is cared for at home by Jan Kasecky.
