Thoughts on Seneca Chief at Chelmsford

Seneca Chief bids to add a fifth victory to his C.V. at Chelmsford City in the 7.15. Richard Kingscote is aboard the gelding for the first time. Seneca Chief is two from two in handicaps at the venue and seems to enjoy the surface there. He ran a decent race last time out at Wolverhampton from a tricky draw and a repeat of that performance should see him going very close on this slight ease in grade.

Seneca Chief’s main rival here looks to be Dazzling Des who ran well at Wolverhampton Monday in a slightly better race. Miaella has been progressive this season and has won her last three starts, this is quite a step up in grade for her and she will have to continue that upward curve to remain competitive. Dynamo Walt is getting on and isn’t the force he once was but ran a solid race on Monday in the other division of the race Dazzling Des ran in and shouldn’t be discounted here. Lethal Angel has plenty in her favour with her career best performance coming on the all weather at this trip, it wouldn’t take a lot more then that to be involved in the shake up here. Shining and Capla Angel are solid horses at a slightly lower grade and have been running well of late but probably need to put up career bests to get involved in this. Its worth noting that the yard that sends out Shining’s horses have been in fine form recently.

Seneca Chief is a homebred of Gary & Lesley Middlebrook’s he has won three races this season. He will be led up by Billie Portwin this evening and is ridden out at home by Damon Houlbrook.
