Thoughts on Shamiana at Southwell tomorrow

Shamiana runs in the 1.55 at Southwell tomorrow (8th of May). Mickael Barzalona takes the ride in the one mile handicap. Shamiana was disappointing over twelve furlongs last week at Yarmouth as she failed to see out the mile and a half trip. We ran a few tests afterwards to be ensure that was all that that had caused a poor effort and they all came back clear so it’s a case of onwards and upwards. She seems to be able to handle two races close together and there is a bit of a gap in the program for her until the next one so this seemed like a good option as she has run reasonably well at the course and distance.

Solarmaite will take a bit of beating if he turns up in the same form as last week when winning an eleven furlong handicap comprehensively – the drop back shouldn’t be a problem as he has won over six furlongs here too! Quite a versatile performer all told. General Tufto is a regular round here and has been in consistent form of late and will set the standard for the rest.
