Thoughts on Socrates at Chelmsford

Socrates heads to Chelmsford for the 6.10 this evening. William Cox will be on board for the seven furlong apprentice handicap. The three year old gelding put in much his best performance of the year returned to the all weather and sporting blinkers for the first time at Kempton on his latest start. He steps up to seven furlongs as he was doing his best work at the end of the race.

There are a few with a bit to prove in this apprentice handicap but Prince Jai looks capable of winning a race like this and sets a decent standard on recent form. The lightly raced Frank’s Legacy returns from a bit of a break but did win on his handicap debut when last seen and is still open to improvement and the most biggest danger.
