Thoughts On Socrates At Salisbury
Socrates runs this evening in the 8.20 at Salisbury. George Downing rides in the 10 furlong handicap. He came out of the stalls very awkwardly on his last start at the same track and was always then playing catchup. He was only beaten 9 1/2 lengths which when you consider his slow start wasn’t that far. We have done plenty of stalls work with him since and hopefully this evening he will jump out well and get in to the race over a trip that looks sure to suit. Both of his half brothers won over course and distance including one of them in this very race.
High Wells who finished 2nd at Bath on his last start sets the standard. Bombero also looks to be a danger stepping up in trip based on his dams pedigree and Estrellada must be respected on handicap debut.
