Thoughts on Solent Meads at Kempton this evening

Solent Meads bids to make amends for his recent defeat by a short head when he looked to have the race won on his most recent start in the 8.45 at Kempton tonight. George Downing is in the saddle as the gelding bids to get things right. He somewhat threw away his race when idling having gone clear entering the straight on Saturday but still managed to finish five lengths clear of the third and we are getting him out whilst he is still ahead of the handicapper. Although we have a good strike rate returning horses to the track quickly we aren’t normally a fan of such an option because a lot has to be right for it to work.  Solent Meads seems well so its worth a shot as this is his last chance in this grade for a while, despite a horrible draw in fourteen.

The opposition are a bit tougher than what he faced last time out. Slow to Hand looks the most likely winner, however hold up tactics may play against him in what could be a tactical looking affair. Coverham and Widnes are both solid performers in this grade and Balgair starting out for new connections is also a potential danger dropped to a lower grade than he has faced previously.
