Thoughts on Southwold
Southwold lines up at Southwell on Tuesday, 21st of February. He heads to post for the 6.00pm with Richard Kingscote in the saddle. There is good prize money on offer for the grade. Southwell have to be commended and the race has attracted a full field.
Southwold has made a bright start to his career. After belying his greeness to win on a debut, he ran creditably under a penalty next time out over this course and distance. He has done some good work at home and ought to able to compete at a higher level in due course. He does however lack experience compared to his battle hardened rivals, so will need to step forward mentally.

There don’t look to be any horses that are obviously ahead of the handicapper. It’s likely to be a tight race. Rumnotred is lightly raced and was far from disgraced in a better race last time on his handicap debut, a repeat of that run might be enough. English Spirit has shown his best form on the turf but if able to match that here could be a big danger. Big Narstie won a lower grade last time and his new connections may be working him out. At his best for previous connections he can be competitive at this level. Beautiful Crown and End Zone have been consistent of late in similar races.
Southwold runs in the colours of owner & breeders Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He will be led up by Epona Miller who cares for him daily at home.
