Thoughts on Southwold

Southwold has travelled up to Newcastle where he makes his debut on the track in the 5.45pm under Tom Eaves.

Southwold is needed time to come to himself. He did has done some encouraging work at home and we are looking forward to his debut. It is quite a long trip up to Newcastle for a first time out horse. There doesn’t look a lot of depth to the race so we’ve taken the chance that his inexperience isn’t a hindrance.

Southwold

None of his rivals have shown a particularly high level of form yet. El Royale has the best flat form. Looking at his recent run here over seven furlongs he should step up for the extra furlong. Albeit his pedigree suggesting otherwise. Unbridled Power changes discipline and might be better suited to flat racing than the bumper he competed in, in Ireland. The fact he started shortish prices in that sphere suggest he showed ability at home. His pedigree suggests he would be better suited to flat racing so he could well show more in this game.

Southwold runs in the colours of owner and breeders Gary & Lesley Middlebrook. The gelding will be led up by Epona Miller who cares for him daily at home.
