Thoughts on this afternoon’s runners
Two runners today (Monday 17th September). Passing Star in the 3:10 at Brighton kicks things off. Like Morris rides the gelding in the seven furlong handicap. All his wins have come on the all weather but at this level he should be competitive. Slight concerns about the track but as he heads to the sales later this week it was worth a go.
The race looks open and at a track which is a bit unique previous winners should always be respected and Imbucato has done that twice recently and is the obvious one to beat.
Sploosh is headed to Kempton for the 7:30. George Downing rides in the mile novice event. Sploosh is learning his job and should show a bit more again in a race that will qualify him for a handicap mark. His future lies in that sphere and perhaps over slightly further.
The race doesn’t look deep and exposed maidens Rippling Waters and Climb Aboard set a standard that may well be surpassed by the twice raced Global Melody. Tuscan Pearl showed enough on his first start a year ago to be interesting and can be forgiven a lesser display on his recent return over further.
