Thoughts on three runners at Chelmsford
Three runners at Chelmsford this evening (November 24th). Richard Kingscote is in the saddle for all three rides.
Solent Meads will be up first in the mile maiden at 5.55. The two year old gelding progressed nicely from debut to finish an encouraging third at Newcastle over seven furlongs last time out. The extra distance this evening should really suit and he has a decent draw.
Solent Meads sets the standard from what has been seen of these on the track. The unraced horses are unknown quantities but of those that have run Ferocity is the most likely improver.
Outrage follows in the 6.25. He steps up to six furlongs after a couple of close efforts over five. He has done all his winning over five but ought to be equally effective over this trip. He was very unlucky at the track two starts back when badly hampered and missed the break last time out at Kempton in a race where it appeared best to be handy, we’ve worked a bit on his gate speed since and hopefully he gets a cleaner break this evening. He is a horse who needs a bit of luck in running but when he clicks is very useful. He is drawn slightly wider than ideal.
The race looks fiercely competitive and the unexposed King Cole is going to have to prove himself against the likes Plucky Dip and Primrose Valley who have looked competitive in better races. The in form Dutch Golden Age and Pearl Spectre add to the challenge.
Amor Invicto runs in the 7.55 a mile handicap. He returns from a long absence and will probably need the race from a fitness perspective. He hasn’t had the best times out on the racecourse, even his promising debut marred by the fact his jockey didn’t weigh in, resulting in disqualification. We’ve put blinkers on to give him a bit of confidence in amongst horses as he has been intimidated in some rough races. We’d be hoping he gets a decent experience on his first start in handicap company with a view to the future.
Tommy’s Secret sets the standard and although perhaps not quite as effective as he was a year or two or go when he was winning higher grade races around the track his most recent course and distance performance would put him right there tonight. Rebel State has been knocking on the door in similar contests and connections have turned to a visor to find the key this evening. Barista has been in great form on the Fibresand and would be a danger if able to transfer that form here.
