Thoughts on three runners at Salisbury tomorrow
Three runners at Salisbury tomorrow so it will be a busy day. Shock kicks things off in the 2.20. John Fahy takes the ride in the six furlong maiden. Things all came as a bit of a shock first time out for the Kheleyf colt and he missed the break and could never get involved. It was a pretty poor show and hopefully he’ll get his act together and run a proper race this time. He isn’t the fastest learner and nothing spectacular is expected tomorrow he’ll probably be the type for nurserys down the line and should improve as a three year old.
The race looks strong with some experienced horses setting a decent standard but it is interesting that Richard Hughes plumps to ride Decimus Maximus who has had just one start, he’ll have to meet a pretty decent standard set by Captain Bob and Showpiece, who was disappointing last time.
In the 3.55 Rosaceous is our representative. John Fahy rides her in the 10 furlong listed race. A nice filly who won a Newbury maiden and has improved since, she got a nasty bump last time out and got found out by the trip at Ascot in what was a hot race for a four runner handicap, the runner up won a good race at the weekend. She is in good shape at home but will need to be as this is big step up in grade. Mickael Barzalona felt she would be capable of gaining black type and that is the aim for tomorrow.
Bana Wu and Hippy Hippy Shake are proven commodities in this grade and set a tough standard, however it is the lightly raced and improving Rock Choir that looks to be the biggest danger.
Our final runner of the day is Lisa’s Legacy in the 4.30. James Doyle is reunited with the gelding in the ten furlong handicap. Lisa’s Legacy ran a strange race last time out, hitting a flat spot in the middle of the race and totally losing his position. He then flew from the back of the field down the home straight and finished strongly. He seems fine after the race and we decided to take a chance turning him out quickly as the track and trip should suit him. This is a slightly higher grade than he has been running in but he should be competitive if things fall his way and he travels throughout the race.
Top Diktat drops in grade but will need to step up on his form this year to be a threat. Society Pearl looks as if he is capable of winning a race of this nature and its possible that Ingot of Gold can find the improvement required for a race of this nature given she is lightly raced.
