Thoughts on Thursday’s runners
Two runners today, Ciara Pearl runs at Lingfield at 1.40pm with Jack Mitchell in the saddle. It’s then over to Chelmsford where Evening Story heads to post for the 7.00pm contest under Jason Hart.
Ciara Pearl
Ciara Pearl made a really encouraging debut at Bath. She still looked very raw but as the race progressed she began to get the idea and will know a lot more this time around.
Monkmoor Pip won a weak race on debut but one can do no more than beat what is in front of you. He will likely know more this time and warrants respect. Beau Gars showed a little on debut before tiring late on. Karatayka has run reasonably consistently in handicaps but certainly isn’t ahead of her mark and it would be surprise if one or two of the more lightly race horses were of a better standard. Huda Star made a nice enough debut but that was in April and her only run since was poor. A wind op since may indicate what was amiss.
Ciara Pearl runs in the colours of owner Andrew Stonehill and will be led up today by Arla Cheshire.
Chelmsford
Evening Story had always run consistently until her most recent effort left us scratching our heads. There was no obvious reason for a poor run and it may just have been an off day. She has trained nicely since. With the horses in training sales looming we were keen to explore ten furlongs to see whether it brought about further improvement.
Lethal Touch has been in great form of late and looks the one to beat here.
Evening Story runs in the colours of owners Gary and Lesley Middlebrook who also bred the filly. She will be led up by James Pulley who cares for her daily at home.
