Thoughts on Thursday’s Runners

Continuing our busy week here at Sarsen Farm, we are sending out three runners on Thursday 18th April. Percy’s Lad kicks off his 2024 campaign at Newmarket in the 5.20pm Class 2 Handicap, Richard Kingscote will be taking the ride. Our other two runners head to Chelmsford’s evening meeting. Salamanca Lad will be making his second start for us in the 6.00pm 1 mile 2 furlong handicap and Monkey Miss runs in the 8.00pm 6 furlong handicap. Both will be ridden by Jack Mitchell.

PERCY’S LAD

Percy’s Lad didn’t win in 2023 but had a good season winning plenty of prize money. He is particularly effective around Chester so the May meeting is our primary target, with this race setting him up well to begin his season.

Percy’s Lad

The race looks a good contest. Poet Master is the horse with the progressive profile but he comes up against so seasoned and talented rivals. Pearle D’Or and Northern Express are two seasoned top class handicappers. Suviana over from France is difficult to assess in the context, but it seems unlikely she is just running for a day trip!

Percy’s Lad runs in the colours of owner Alan Kerr and will be led up by Sammy Barnett who cares for him daily at home.

SALAMANCA LAD

Salamanca Lad made a good debut for the yard and should appreciate the extra couple of furlongs he gets in his race this evening.

Epona Mille aboard Salamanca Lad

Con Te Partiro looks a tough opponent. He’s progressing up the ranks, and has beaten Eccentric twice, who bested Salamanca Lad last time. The other three rivals looks to have a bit to find with him.

Salamanca Lad runs in the colours of our in house partnership Fellowship Racing and Diskovery. He will be led up by Epona Miller who rides and cares for the gelding at home. If you are interested in joining one of our in house partnerships, take a look at the horses for sale page. There are a couple of options at the moment. Including a two year to race for the Diskovery Partnership called Echo of Glory. Echo of Glory is a strong two year old colt with a speedy pedigree. There are 5% or 10% shares available.

MONKEY MISS

Moneky Miss yet again has a wide stall. She ran well from an impossible position last time out. Hopefully things will fall a bit more kindly for her this evening.

Monkey Miss

Again a race that revolves around a progressive handicapper, with Southbank looking a big cut about his rivals based on his most recent win.

Moneky Miss runs in the colours of owner Wayne Clifford and was bred by Sarah Clifford at their Byerley Stud. She will be led up by Epona Miller who cares for her daily at home.
